Is Reality TV Still Real???
What the hell is going on at MTV? 50 has a new show, Puff is returning with Making The (Rock) Band, and TI has a new show in the works. Snoop had a show, Deion Sanders has a show, and who can forget Run’s House?
Is this still worthwhile? Or is it watered down and fake?

TV’s adding two more hip-hop headliners to its reality show line-up this summer and fall, but neither of them have much to do with the music.
50 Cent’s still untitled reality competition will focus on business skills, and Diddy’s show remakes “Making The Band” for the rock arena, according to Billboard.
Fif will challenge 16 contestants to master the business savvy that brought him from a street existence to his present star status. Each week, one of the protégés will be eliminated and the last one standing will receive a full scholarship to an undergraduate or graduate business program.
The contestants have a lot to learn. The mogul’s portfolio includes an investment in Vitamin Water, his own record label, a branded clothing line, sneakers through Reebok, books, video games, Hollywood movies, his own body spray through Right Guard and most recently a memorabilia line through a deal with Steiner Sports.
As SOHH previously reported, the rapper will be done with his Interscope contract after the completion of one more solo album. The soon-to-be free agent is already looking for his next big pay day.
Diddy’s “Making the Band” spinoff, “Making the Rock Band” will take on the basic structure of the first Band, with the new genre.
“Our main goal is to always pull the rug out,” MTV programming head Tony DiSanto says. “If something is working great, we don’t want to do it again, we want to do something new. Our viewers expect us to keep evolving, genre-busting and taking chances.”
Yesterday SOHH reported that Atlanta rapper, T.I., will also be getting his own reality show on MTV. The docu series will follow him as he performs the remainder of his community service hours and prepares for a one-year prison sentence next spring. The show is slated to air shortly after the rapper reports to prison for federal weapons charges in early 2009.
DAMN! If I didnt have a job… I’d try out for 50s show (not really… but I’d wish I had the balls to). I LOVE the prize… I need that in my life. So I can’t hate on it. However, I wonder how he’s granting an education that he, himself doesn’t have.
I like Snoop’s show. Caught 1 episode of Dieon Sanders’- he’s funny. I’m on the fence with the TI thing. I’d have rather seen something like Special Delivery (a la Brandy) come back and follow Tiny’s pregnancy.
Diddy makes good reality television… but who in their RIGHT MIND wants to be signed to Bad Boy? I mean, your publishing will be named after someone in HIS family. Danity Kane had a number 1 album… 1 single… 1 video. come on son. The golden years of Bad boy are over… not due to lack of talent but due the fact that Diddy and his business practices are bullshit and everyone knows it.

Speaking of, whatever happened to that ‘Oh So Krispy’ from that TLC show??? (was that her name???) I mean is it really worth it in the end? Where does half these people end up at? On top or on the bottom? ….I’m just asking.

Dame’s rep was shaky when he did Ultimate Hustler… and the production looked so bootleg.
What ever happened to the girl Asia from the PCD show number 1…. they done had another show and still no Asia… PLUS didnt Diddy or Rocawear want her to model… them booted her.

If you’re going to “reality tv” it’s got to be on MTV if you’re legitimately trying to be on reality tv for awhile. Play your cards right and you can do shows for 5-10 years after doing Real World then go get on Gauntlet, Real World/ Road Rules Challenge, etc. etc.
Why anyone would sign their career over to Puffy is beyond my comprehension. He was still collecting publishing from The LOX, more than 6 years after they left Bad Boy. If you do a Making the Band with Puff, you’re good for 1 video per album.
I like Run’s House the most out of all the reality tv shows. The thing with reality shows in general is they’re always on, the networks kill some reality re-runs.
The Dione & Pilar show is good, its like your fav uncle & his wife going at it (in a fun way) all day.. LOVES IT! as for the rest of that shit.. im through with it.. but the 50 show presents a good op for whoever is willing to do it.. and ditto on THH’s comment.. how are you giving money for a degree you dnt have? but when you have doe.. doesnt really matter does it ?
First of all if fif is keepin it real then it’s a good look, anytime you given back one can respect that. However if it’s on some bull like Dame was on then it will turn into a hot mess. Diddy needs to sit his fake wanna be a gangsta, rippin artist off, limelight stealin, non dancin, nonsingin, whisperin take that, tight suit, big gums A_ _ down somewhere and take a Prozac. Run’s house is scripted for the most part but at least you get the family effect out of the show, even though it is very clear that if u got dough you can get your child the hottest producer’s out there and still have their single flop (did ya’ll hear jojo’s joint, straight up booty). TIP, what up wit cha boi, do dat der thang and rep the “A”.
