Are these on YouTube?? Damnit TMA!! You know us viewers who work in Financial Markets (me and Bean) can’t view that shit from work! The other videos yall usually post… we can see. Oh well… something to watch after work.

  2. Hey JD,

as an upcoming producer i got two points to make….
    1. your crazy if you think people aint like what you do for this many years and all them artists you’ve worked with…Aw man we got love for So So Def and the shit you do. (and that So So Def shirt.)

    2. Damn right the dj is dead you cant take your music to nobody to get it played you gotta send it to the internet and then watch it get a buzz on its own and then dj’s pick it up like they up on the “new Shit.” Its happened to me in my town and its annoying.

Anyway dont stop whatcha doin JD, music needs you. And tell youtube to cut a check cuz them blogs is funny too.

  3. Pullum says:

All DJ’s aren’t in it for what JD says. There definitely are a lot that are but not all. Part of the issue is the DJ seeing people getting long bread and wants to get his/her paper as well. One thing I can’t stand is some one who calls his/her self a DJ but can’t mix to say his/her life. Also can’t get down with DJ’s that leak whole projects w/o an artist’s permission.

But I love a great mixtape! And got no issue with drops, 1 verse from a song, etc. etc. A good mixtape will definitely get people checking for an artist that aren’t necessarily up on YouTube. Mixtapes are a great way to keep an established artist’s name out there too.

JD, I’m just glad you stopped using that GAP Band sample/drums. j/k

  4. ummmmmmmm says:

I concur to an extent. If you are a DJ, then you want to be an artist or producer or something else. ( I believe JD spoke on that before) So they arent focused on perfecting their craft or helping to break new artist (without under table payment). They trying to get JD type money. To an extent its working, look at DJ Khaled with his annoying bassless voice!

Not really on subject…but what happened to DJ’s REALLY DJ’ing a party. I dont even think they carry turntable’s anymore. I hate going to the club hearing the same shyt they playing on the radio or no REAL mixing.

    ***MSG TO JD***

JD, you are confusing at times, but hey most geniuses are, so keep doing what you’re doing!

Sidenote: I posted in another thread…..Heard on SSD Radio that Dondria’s single will be aval in 16 days on iTUNEs….did I miss something (like what the single is, radio play, a performance???????)

Also whats going on (update)with Brotha and Maestro (from that showcase)?

  5. Mike Hee says:

JD know this off the back that I got mad love and respect for you dawg…..but I have to disagree with what you are saying about the DJ being dead. I am a dj here in Buenos Aires….mind you I am from the CHI originally ….and I have been down here for about 5 years now doing my thing. I think it is still the job of the DJ to get the tracks out there. I play on the radio here….and on my own online radio station and when I play new joints, I always get people asking me when is it coming out down here….mind you sometimes it doesnt…..depending on the artist, because here is a different market, but I think it depends on the DJ´s you talking to. Without naming no names, yes there are DJ´s out there who are trying to produce and be artists as well, and those are the ones who are passing you the cds . But for the rest of us who do parties, clubs, and radio, it aint all about that. For me its about playing the dope shit to get people out on the dance floor. To get people to tune in, to get people into the stores…..that is the job of the DJ. I think now with everything being so cross pollinated, now the lines are getting blurred as to what everyones jobs are. Also with the lack of great material in the market place now, the accessiblity of music , and the now not so underground mixtape circuit…..yeah it would seem that DJ´s job is not relevant. But dont get it twisted, with us spinning ya´ll shit in the clubs, in the underground parties, on the radio, doing what we do, giving you that extra promotion, I think it would be harder to get to certain parts of the public. Like for me, a lot of cats down here love hip hop, but there are somethings that just dont trickle down here. And with me, being from the states and knowing what is going on in hip hop and where to find certain things I bring that to them, and I have exposed them to artists who they might have not been able to check out, if I hadnt played that on the radio, or at the club, or at the underground party that I spin at. So dont diss the dj for trying to get his thing on too, just know that it is the nature of this changing business. And stop trying to squeeze us out man….ya´ll need us!!
    Peace and Blessing
    Nos Vemos

  6. THE TRUTH says:

I AGREE WIT U 100% THAT THE DJS IS DEAD AND MY REASONS 4 SAYIN THAT R…DJS IS FOLLOWERS AND THATS Y THEY ALL ON THE SAME LEVEL CUZ THEY PLAYING WIT THE NEXT 1 PLAYING AND SCARED 2 TRY OUT NEW SONGS OR EVEN SONGS FROM NEW ARTIST… 2ND REASON IS THESE DJS WANNA B LOOKED @ AS THE DAMN ARTIST NOW AND THAT MAKES IT HARD 4 A RAP NIGGA WHEN THE DJ TRYNA SHINE AND LOOK LIKE U SO NOW HE ON SOME IM NOT PLAYING THIS AND THAT OR ON SOME BEATS PER MIN SHIT…PLAY WHAT THE PEOPLE WANNA HEAR U DUMB ASS NIGGAS AND IF U HEAR SOMETHING U LIKE PLAY THAT SHIT …DJS READING THIS WOULDNT U FEEL GOOD KNOWING THAT UR THE REASON A SONG IS POPPIN? GET OFF EACHOTHERS DICKS AND SET URSELVES APART FROM THE NEXT 1 ………

AND NOW MR. DUPRI …I BEEN KNEW U THOUGHT NO1 LIKES U CUZ HOW U MOVE …I CAN TELL UR SCARED 2 TAKE CHANCES 2 CUZ U WANNA KEEP PROVING PEOPLE WRONG THATS NOT TRYNA GIVE U UR PROPS …BUT THATS HURTING U IN A WAY CUZ IT SEEM LIKE U ONLY GO HARD 4 ESTABLISHED ARTIST AND B NERVOUS WHEN IT COMES 2 A NEW 1 …GIVE THESE NEW NIGGAS THE SAME ENERGY WHEN/IF U GET IN THERE WIT THEM CUZ MARIAH,USHER,JANET THEY GETTING OLD OR IN LOVE MAN ….

THE DJ IS DEAD….BUT SO R NEW ARTIST BCUZ OF THE DJ AND BCUZ OF EXECS SCARED 2 GO HARD 4 THEM…

  7. Ok Jermaine I’m Gonna have to check your ass.

Niggas are going to have haters and everyone are not gonna like things you do but you are a true inspiration. It seems like you are the only one in this game that fucks with new artist and actually make them a success. It may seem like don’t nobody like you because all the bad things people have to say about you but check this out. The people that really matters are buying your albums, buying your books, coming on this site, etc… You are still on top of your game cause you give the people what they want not what they need. SoSo Def has been around forever and yall still doing your thang. Every time someone says some hateful shit about you it’s out of envy. You do a lot of boasting but so do Diddy! Everybody loves the underdog. I met you once in the Chi, and I told you that one day I’m gonna work for SOSODEF and you had that look on your face like why. Because you are more about the artistry of music then about yourself.

Keep doing your thang! The people that matters the most are the ones that make your bank account grow.

  8. Joey says:

Yo J.D. um feeling u on this tip and you right D.J’S are not focused as they were in the past, everybody trying to come up but going about it the wrong way. It use to be one helps the other come up (the M.C. goes to the D.J., the D.J. plays the record and the M.C. gets notoriety, the D.J. also gets known because they are playing the hottest records and he continues to perfect his skills on the one and two’s. Now days u got 1. C.D. turntables that take away from the real art of D.J.’s cuttin and scratchin, 2. Local deejays who are more interested in selling their own mix tapes than helping a brotha out. and 3. No clubs in the hood due to ignorant people trying to shoot the place up before a substantial gain can be accomplished for the M.C.’s in the hood. Can you feel me? The times have changed, and with it went the blueprint for real HIP HOP, the DEEJAYS, THE B-BOYS, & THE M.C.’s. All we got left are the matriarchs of hip hop so the sad conclusion is D.J.’s are a part of hip hop (I ain’t talking about those disco deejays either) and unless we get back the moral
lease on hip hop it will continue to become more industry and mainstream.

    Honestly,…

I’m glad you have a medium, somewhere that lets YOU say exactly what you feel is a problem to the industry, or your take. I am also dually glad you recognize, why people definately in the culture of hiphop don’t like you. yes, in the industry and business of rap music. people get all up in arms over your return in the marketplace. good for you, but honestly at the end of the day,…your returns posted in the marketplace since the beginning of your career. perpetuated the main reasoning, you feel this way, of not being liked, by material or as a single sole drawing figure. plus, dually at the same time you perpetuated a sales envelope in an industry that ostracized the true evolved skillset in the industry, and the culture most importatantly. every project you have ever released has been one of reknowned culture stealing. you, jermaine dupri, jd[that ain't even your nickname originally. we can cite the real jd, RIP, who had his production stolen by your now gurl friend as evidence as well. then had his whole draw interrupted by you, too. this is someone who actually upgraded the use of sampling, and sonic medium. yet is uncited because of things you did in the marketplace] jermaine duri, you are exactly, one of the chief and prime culture stealers in rap history from the late eighties. i can cite your group, SXL, sylk tymes leather, all the way to your bastardized supposed sonic upgrades to bdp instrumentals placed as remixes to rap beats/rnb as well. every offering you ever gave the rap industry, and dually the culture of hiphop has been one of such heinous nature to the original precepts that were taken into context with this culture. as early as the graf revolution when art houses stole graf from the early graf artist. thus providing the first studied and documented evidence of how to wrench a culture from the hiphop culture through business. your continued degradative practicecs helped to usher in a whole order of cannon fodder artist, and oppurtunists. those oppurtunists, weren’t and didn’t subscribe. plus, effectively tricknologized a whole generation into buying and being subjected to the degradation of skills. that degradation of skills, lead to the degradation of commerce in the entire music industry, ultimately.
i feel you being an original bboy by your press, and your inclusion in the industry as a dancer from your early years. give you a place and pedestal to be able to understand this medium in full from a cultural perspective. yet, and still, you still perpetrated these crimes upon the culture similar to rock and the degradation of their subgenre’s and collective in everything from metal to punk and even mod. similar to the large older overproducing producers in the medium, and genre of ROCK, did.

i just wish you would use this so called arena to explain the deaths, in full. to actually give a reason to save face, and rebolster your public perception and draw as an artist. give the reasoning behind the projects and what was your thinking originally when you did the projects as early as sylk tymes leather. which is simply seen as biting. regardless of the positives you can try to pr spin or pr blitzing, which has become a component of yours lately. as evidenced by your previous attempts to shadow the blame of the fall of the music industry onto apple. while also alternatively trying to champion yourself and jayz, as false prophets, to the advancement of music. while in reality hiding behind this veil, and then using your in place veil to try to deflect blame from yourself onto a larger corporation. a corporation, APPLe, which doesn’t have anything to do with, perception in the marketplace, or the marketplace of rap, what so ever. in all reality, APPle, should have been championed for creating an alternative and technological advancement into the industry.

if you would humble yourself, and explain in history. plus, subject yourself to real scrutiny. i feel maybe you could repair your overrall scope and view in the marketplace as likeable. by doing something likeable to this culture for a change, instead of something selfserving, to your pocketbook. it is now time for all the chief culture stealers in rap to come forward and admit your crimes and be absolved from it. so that the people in this culture can move forward instead of aiming our turrets in yours and other culture stealers directions. just having to cite people like you, and others is counterproductive to rewriting rap as a viable commodity. let alone the ability to sell music, without large corporate monopolistic practices. although until someone of your stature proves to be the better man, hiphop as a culture will continue to cite you in negativity. the whole purpose of hiphop was to create a positive swing on the bad. it is why battling was created, so please give us a close to the battling we do in hiphop in our crab in the barrell mentality. offer hiphop another medium, to help instead of one of degradation.

Honestly… I’m not slow by anymeans… but ^^^ I understood about 4 sentences. I wish I could have broken down those compound sentences in order to undetstand it because the person above seems generally PISSED at JD.. I also wish I could understand the references. Therefore, the above fell on deaf ears over here… Maybe I’m just not intelligent enough…. or maybe I need a dictionary… or both. But in the blogging world… can we keep it simple for us stupids. (KISS) ;)

  13. theHustleHER says:

While Im reading replies since I CANT see the video… I have no beef with JD. :) I don’t think he gets the recognition he deserves. But I’ll save my reply for when I can see the vids. How about… I wasn’t aware people hate JD. News…

  14. nick says:

the DJ isn’t dead, he’s just evolved with the game.

i do agree about the ‘running with the baton’ part- i try not to do that- i’m focused on being a DJ, not a producer, rapper, remixer, whatever- i like rocking parties and that’s what i do. i hone that craft. but i know a lot of people who do exactly what JD says.

but with commercial radio being what it is nowadays, the DJ does not have POWER like he used to. in the days of mr. magic and similar, hip hop was not this super commercialized mega corporation that it is now. there was one hip hop radio show and what was on there was what got popular.

most DJ’s don’t LOVE everything thats out there. shit, you think i want to sit in a hot sweaty club till 2am playing lollipop, cyclone and low EVERY SINGLE NIGHT? people are sheep and slaves to the radio. if we play new hot artists nobody’s ever heard of and try to break them… guess what? nobody dances, and we lose our jobs. it’s not so black and white as its put out.

last point… with the growth of hip hop, everyone thinks they can be a rapper now. i’m nowhere near big time, and i get way too many demos from people who SUCK plain and simple. if i played even half of the tracks i get from every dumbass up and coming wannabe rapper, i’d be out of a job. then again, i would have laughed soulja boy out of the building if that insult to hip hop handed me a CD with ‘crank dat’ a year ago, so maybe i’m not quite ‘in tune.’

  15. Pullum says:

    @ Art Barr

Who made you the authority on who “steals” the culture? It is very presumptuous of anyone to make his/her self the authority on hip hop. We are all hip hop and I definitely DO NOT “cite” JD “in negativity. “

  16. shabazz says:

I LIKE WHAT YOU DO AND HAVE BEEN DOING. FROM A YOUNG, UP AND COMING MOGUL TO A MOGUL FOR YEARS I WANT TO BE WHERE YOU AT AND EQUAL. JUST NEED THE OPPORTUNITY. IN CHICAGO WE DO NOT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITIES FULLY AVAILABLE LIKE OTHER CITIES CAUSE THE PEOPLE IN THE POSITION(FEW) DO NOT LET THE DOORS OPEN. SO I APPRECIATE ANYHING THAT YOU DO AN TELL SKEETER ROCK TO COME CHECK FOR HIS CITIES NEW ARTISTS. DUTCH DINERO, HYMALAYA AND OTHERS.

  17. Hollywoodsouth says:

    JD,
You make a good point about the DJ. The DJ used to help break new artist, now some DJ’s are bigger than the artist. It’s hard to get your shine when the DJ is talking all over your muisc. Now the music is used to promote the DJ. The Game has change!
You keep doing you. You always been in your own lane, so keep driving in it.

    Mr. HollywoodSouth

  20. theHustleHER says:

Ok so LMFAO at the end caption “Leave Comments for JD the Boss”

How the hell do you not think the commetators on TMA like you?! US?! I mean up until you started responding there were about 10 faithful commenters. We have yet to blast your ass about anything beyond shaving your face. :) We talk a lil shit… but thats always needed. Besides… sometimes people in your position have 10 too many cheerleaders on their squads. You need someone there to say “That shit is trash” whether you care or not… it needed to be said… before you read about it in a publication and thin… damn well we thought it was hot… no WE didn’t … YOU did… no one just told ur ass.

But back to my earlier comment. I don’t think you get the props you deserve. BUT!! I also think you need to get some shit together too. Like… there is no So So Def roster right now. Other people on here nag about the back-burner… WHATEVER. I can’t name 5 acts that I’m positive are signed to So So Def. That shit needs to be fixed… helloooo… how are u producing crack music but you don’t have a starting 5? Shit not even an all-star on your squad. And no one say “Well he has Dondria now” Until she puts up numbers… she’s a suited up benchwarmer waiting to get in the game.

Now video number one. The problem is everyone wanna be a star. I blame that shit on DJ clue. His first album was the business… everything after was trash. I swear after that… all the DJs wanted to be stars and shit. But I mean… Record execs wanna be STARS too. Shit JD.. you have albums… Diddy… so thats the problem PERIOD with the past and present. No one wants to let the next person shine. Although u have chilled out on the album tip…

Co-sign on the DJ Khaled… omg… annoying. You know what else needs to DIE… rappers and DJs and Producers giving speeches on tracks. Word to Rick Ross. WTF!

  21. theHustleHER says:

Ummmmmmmmmm… you aint never lied!!! Now we see why the TMA stats are so high. :smirk: You wont see 1/2 of these names comment again until JD posts. But I think it’s because he shouts the site on the radio and on YouTube… people are coming thru… which is good. As long as people dont start linking demos and shit. LMFAO.

  22. theHustleHER says:

And yes… Re: Paco1472… no one forgets the history you’ve made. Wasn’t brat the 1st female rapper to go platinum? I love Kriss Kross… I wore my jumper backwards. I thought Brad was so dope on the awards with the all white and she game out with a doobie. Xscape was the shit… they don’t get the props they deserve. Word to their live performances. Bow-Wow came out a star in Monica’s vid. And you’ve always produced good music for her. And everything recently kept radio from totally DYING… so you’re alright short man…

When you’re at the top.. people are supposed to hate.

  23. BAM says:

YO! I have something smart to say.. lol How is it possible to be an “up and coming mogul”? answer me this.. okay.. im done.

  24. TMA says:

I think I am going to have to add HustleHER and Bam to the Gossip Girlz! We are like American Express – MEMBERSHIP HAS IT’S PRIVILEGES!!!!”

Y’all be having me DYING here with the tag team comments

Also… HustleHER I am with you.. I was trying my best to comprehend what the hell ART BARR was saying.. I couldn’t figure it out, JD couldn’t figure it out, you couldn’t figure it out…

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP BROTHER ART OUT AND EXPLAIN HIS COMMENT so JD can repond and understand what it is that he is responding to

    lol

  25. the reality is, the DJ isn’t dead, just powerless. Labels as a whole have a different promotion scheme. Program directors run what’s on the radio now, and the DJs are forced to follow a format. That trickles down to the club as the sheep that come to the club are only interested in hearing what’s on the radio. Breaking new music is more difficult each day. Couple that with the absolute GARBAGE that bombards us today…you say the DJ is dead? Why is it that people all over want to hear Lollipop 50 times a night at the club, but have no love for Common or Mos Def or just good music in general.

The DJ is dead? The DJ is a slave to the garbage pop music that has replaced good hiphop.

  26. theHustleHER says:

Awwww we do what we can!! :)
People get REAL DEEP on these JD posts… u need some comic relief. They turn these blogs into a damn panel discussion. :) But I do learn things at times… or… ALMOST (Re:, the above)

And we’re always here… TMA makes the work day go by faster. ;)

  27. theHustleHER says:

And Bean… stop trying to stomp on his dreams! :)

  28. BAM says:

    @ TMA :
Im with it! I felt like I was watching tha BET special (Hip Hop vs. America) reading this.. almost made me actually want to do work.. But yes my job is not complete without my daily sometimes hourly doses of TMA. && I understood alot of what Minister Art was talking about.. when I get home I’ll be able to break it down..

    @ THH :
Word yo, tell me that didnt sound like he was tryna up his stature. C’mon now ‘mogul’ at least get a website.. not just a myspace. He can use a rinky-dinky web builder.. if his ‘mogul’ money is right.. i’ll do his site… see what you started .. :X

  29. The EvE Of Dominance says:

I agree with what Dj Michael basic said. When you have people in the club requesting lollipop 10 times a night, but have no love for common , Mos Def or even Lupe Fiasco, it’s not about real music anymore, it’s about what sounds good in the club.(CRAP)

The DJ is dead? The DJ is a slave to the garbage pop music that has replaced good hiphop. Couldn’t have said it better. Dj’s nowadays are slaves to top 40 & the weak music. I’ll never blame a dj for making people in the club dance. It goes way deeper than just what the dj decided to play. He has club owners to please too & to them, all that matters is if people frequent the club. You’re not going to get your club packed by promoting local, new artists, it’ll be packed by playing the new Dj khaled track.

There are 2 types of Dj’s, the Radio DJ & the Club DJ. If you’re in Radio, it’s ok in, fact I think you should always give the new artists a chance. If you’re a club DJ, IMO in doesn’t make sense to try & break a new artist, basically no one wants to hear that crap in the club. People come to the club to have a good time, that’s it. If you are a mixtape Dj, you can definitely throw in one or two tracks from new artists.

On the other hand, if you are a new artist trying to eat, don’t try to promote your music at the local club, not a very wise move. Try the radio DJ.

  34. drunkpeoplebabysitter says:

speaking as someone who has been dj’ing for the last 15 years, i am perfectly willing to help an artist out and give some spins – IF – he or she has something original and not the same old recycled crap. i swear the last dozen that came up to the club wanting me to spin their cd didn’t do anything more than pretend they were out of the ATL or Houston when they were sitting in the studio. and i do mean pretend!
dj’s want things that are original to spin just as bad as anyone else, but dammit everything sounds the same right now – too fast, or too slow. be original – you arent young joc, you arent t-pain, you ain’t t.i., or anybody else – STOP COPYIN’ OTHER PEOPLE SHIT AND MAKING IT LIKE ITS YOUR OWN “STYLE”.

our job is to keep the energy level in a club/venue/party/wherever as high as we can without the customers fighting. and you just can’t play tracks that are sitting between 75-85bpm’s and expect your customers to stay awake. they might be horny as hell from grindin’ but you can’t keep goin like that 6-7 hours a night.
we got a little excited when flo-rida released “Low”, and with some of Pitbull’s faster tracks we thought maybe there was gonna be a turnaround back to tracks that were full of energy. and then shit got slow again.

if someone wants to hand me a cd, i’m gonna listen to it, if it sucks -i’m playin frisbee, if it’s got potential – i’ll offer constructive criticism
if it’s golden and i got the time i’ll play it that night and give props on the mic and let people know who it is and where he is. and in the last 11 years at the same club i’ve had that happen once.

  38. I disagree..

What is he saying, that he cant get a DJ to play his demo’s in the club? yea right

I DJ in Atlanta, Charlotte, Augusta and Macon on a regular basis and i get upcoming artists coming to me all the time with a demo that they want to get played. they try to toss me some money but i dont play that shit. If its good, i’ll play it. i might even add to my regular sets but i’m not going to just play anyones demo without Listening to it first.

any good dj will listen to it first to make sure its not totally wrong for his dancefloor and sometimes i just dont have time to listen to it that night. nobody is hating, i play atleast 5 underground records every night, and i dont play ANYTHING twice.

DJ’s have always been artists too, Afrika Bambaataa, Dj jazzy jeff, DJ magic mike. theres 3 decades of DJ/artists for you right there that made an imprint like butt cheeks on hot leather seats.

Im not even sure what he’s griping about. The Major labels get their music on MTV, BET, VH1, Radio and XM & Sirius. thats all they play, thats all the people know. thats all most people will dance to. if the DJ doesnt play those pop records, he will be looking for a new job. the people dont pick the hits anymore just like we dont pick the president anymore.
    corperate america decides for us.

You did things to capitolize on what was hot @ the time but not using authentic artist.

we can cite the real jd, RIP, who had his production stolen by your now gurl friend as evidence as well. then had his whole draw interrupted by you, too. this is someone who actually upgraded the use of sampling, and sonic medium. yet is uncited because of things you did in the marketplace] jermaine duri, you are exactly, one of the chief and prime culture stealers in rap history from the late eighties

Are you on Marie’s payroll?, leave Janet ALONE PLZ!

i can cite your group, SXL, sylk tymes leather, all the way to your bastardized supposed sonic upgrades to bdp instrumentals placed as remixes to rap beats/rnb as well. every offering you ever gave the rap industry, and dually the culture of hiphop has been one of such heinous nature to the original precepts that were taken into context with this culture

Your musical creations are disrespectful to hip hop

as early as the graf revolution when art houses stole graf from the early graf artist. thus providing the first studied and documented evidence of how to wrench a culture from the hiphop culture through business.

You got Ramo killed in Beat Street

your continued degradative practicecs helped to usher in a whole order of cannon fodder artist, and oppurtunists. those oppurtunists, weren’t and didn’t subscribe. plus, effectively tricknologized a whole generation into buying and being subjected to the degradation of skills. that degradation of skills, lead to the degradation of commerce in the entire music industry, ultimately.

You are the door-opener for “soulja boy” type artist & b.s. artists are the reason the entire music industry is down. & since your the cause it’s all your fault.

i feel you being an original bboy by your press, and your inclusion in the industry as a dancer from your early years. give you a place and pedestal to be able to understand this medium in full from a cultural perspective. yet, and still, you still perpetrated these crimes upon the culture

your past works give you status (dancing, bboy, djing)

similar to rock and the degradation of their subgenre’s and collective in everything from metal to punk and even mod. similar to the large older overproducing producers in the medium, and genre of ROCK, did.

Your the reason why white people stole rock music from blacks!

i just wish you would use this so called arena to explain the deaths, in full. to actually give a reason to save face, and rebolster your public perception and draw as an artist. give the reasoning behind the projects and what was your thinking originally when you did the projects as early as sylk tymes leather. which is simply seen as biting.

He wants a SXL comeback so explain why you put them together.

regardless of the positives you can try to pr spin or pr blitzing, which has become a component of yours lately. as evidenced by your previous attempts to shadow the blame of the fall of the music industry onto apple. while also alternatively trying to champion yourself and jayz, as false prophets, to the advancement of music.

he pretty much saying “im tryna get on the Apple payroll so fck you niggaz”

while in reality hiding behind this veil, and then using your in place veil to try to deflect blame from yourself onto a larger corporation. a corporation, APPLe, which doesn’t have anything to do with, perception in the marketplace, or the marketplace of rap, what so ever. in all reality, APPle, should have been championed for creating an alternative and technological advancement into the industry.

“You’re just mad that Apple beat you to the download game. Steve Jobs can you hear me? Cut the check!”

if you would humble yourself, and explain in history. plus, subject yourself to real scrutiny. i feel maybe you could repair your overrall scope and view in the marketplace as likeable. by doing something likeable to this culture for a change, instead of something selfserving, to your pocketbook. it is now time for all the chief culture stealers in rap to come forward and admit your crimes and be absolved from it. so that the people in this culture can move forward instead of aiming our turrets in yours and other culture stealers directions.

Write the United Nations and tell them you sold hip-hop out to the man

just having to cite people like you, and others is counterproductive to rewriting rap as a viable commodity. let alone the ability to sell music, without large corporate monopolistic practices. although until someone of your stature proves to be the better man, hiphop as a culture will continue to cite you in negativity. the whole purpose of hiphop was to create a positive swing on the bad. it is why battling was created, so please give us a close to the battling we do in hiphop in our crab in the barrell mentality. offer hiphop another medium, to help instead of one of degradation.

Giving you your props pains him and “dually at the same time” is negative for hip hop. He also challenged you to a battle.. ;)

    The hell i’m not.

Here in the uk i get embarrassed when folk call me a DJ. I play alot of cheese keep folk up on the floor and see them have a good time. I have great admiration for the guys and gals who can mix, scatch etc.. using raw decks and not software, they too keep folk buzzing, two different parties but the same aim. I can relate to your comments , inspiring and food for thought.

Did you use an h1 code for the size of those quotes?! i need to use that on my hustleher myspace… i like the look.

I mean…that’s kind of harsh to generalize all djs into the same category. I know there are djs out there that still play whole songs, and record digging is still a hobby of mine…and I’m 20…so I’m not entirely sure what you’re saying. I know there are acts out there like Girl Talk and programs like Traktor Scratch that allow people to autobeatmatch and stuff, but to say that the dj is dead is kind of…wrong. I’m not dead! I’m not sick! So I gotta say…I strongly disagree.
Maybe if you clarified what you mean…
I know that djs are now seeking fame too…whats wrong with that? Why does the dj have to be the MC’s bitch? I don’t think that’s what you mean, but that’s what I’m hearing…

  43. bassjunkie says:

and I don’t not like you… I wish everyone in the commercial rap game would stop using that vocader thing, and maybe throw some more accapellas on your records…or add a free digital download with vinyl sale…but other than that…

TELL ME IM NOT SPEAKING THA TRUTH JD
    MBLOSO23

  46. Aries says:

Wus up J??Im gonna have to agree and disagree with the ‘Dj is Dead’ Subject. Dj’s are around by the millions now and they are still doing their job for certain types of music…Id agree that artists arent breaking because of the Dj but the dj’s are still out there in the club/on the radio playing the newest music for the world to hear. Im a producer and used to Dj alot but i feel like theres TOO MANY dj’s these days..and really with serato and tractor scratch and all these other virtual dj programs the life of the dj has changed ALOT. Most dont even carry records anymore and everything is done by computer so youd be better off running up in the club with a flash drive on your keychain rather than a cd or record..LOL…its funny but its true..shit..i got 10gigs on my keychain mang!!beats for days…songs..ect..LOL…anyway i dont think hiphop or the dj is dead..Its jus been overtook by all this bad club music and wack abc rappers that couldnt write a meaningful song if their life depended on it. Hiphop will always stay the same for us real heads and its sad that most people that consider themselves hiphop these days dont even know what hiphop really is..

    Hip-Pop sux.

    Stay up…
    Aries

  47. P says:

you right!! too many so called dj’s are out here trying to pump mixtapes instead of tryin’ to break new artist. take khalid for example. he’s puttin every ring tone rapper he can find on every record on his album. that’s cool. the problem however is that all the artist he use’s with exception of his own signed artist are already established. he’s not breaking any new talent and chances are he’s only spinning the music of artist that will work with him.

  48. Kandi says:

I agree with what you said…i actually heard this backwards cause i heard the Greg Street response before I heard what you said. I have been kinda raising my eyebrows at the DJ in the last few weeks after hearing about the million dj march…like why…i mean really…but anyway i look forward to the next video…and I like what you do :) now give me a job! lol

  49. Jeanine says:

I think what you are saying is interesting considering how the artists have killed the label execs in the past 16 years. In other words the Djs are trying to be Granted you & Puffy were not officially artists at the time but you were more visible than Berry Gordy or Phil & Leonard Chess ever were. I respect you because you put me on when you chose to release “I’m a Mess” on Anthony Hamilton’s 1st album. Thank you. I appreciate the free knowledge.
    Best,
    Jeanine

  50. Jeanine says:

I meant to say the Djs are trying to do to you what you did to Label Execs.
