Lyrics…
Sometimes I hear certain artists, or certain verses, and it takes me back to what I remember HIP HOP to be. Yeah, I know.. nothing stays the same, and we are ALL getting older. Cool. Back to me.. I come from the era of LYRICS… Brooklyn… Latin Quarters, Union Square, Red Parrot … Big Daddy Kane, Juice Crew, Kool G Rap, KRS ONE, Rakim, Slick Rick, Ice Cube, LL…
That’s my backdrop
When I hear Jadakiss… That dude right there… He takes me back to that time. I’m not sure as to why he can’t get the album sales that other more successful rappers get… but there ARE NOT TO MANY RAPPERS (EVER) that can fuck with his lyrical abilities. Dude is a crazy Lyricist (in my humble opinion). I have been listening to his new single all weekend and he definitely had my head bopping.
I was cool with that lil 4th of July treat, then I wake up today and get another one of those flashbacks. Today I heard a new Joe Budden song entitled WHO. This dude is SOOOOO UNDER RATED. I can’t understand it.. his wordplay is insane… but he is another artist that the record sales do not reflect his talent. The game is fucked up when the best do not get compensated for being the best (and I am not saying that Joe Budden is the best.. it is a generalization).
Check out the 2 songs and see what you think

Jadakiss- Don’t Start None

Joe Budden- Who (Part 1)

TMA, thank you, thank you, thank you, never mind the new school vs. old school it’s about that lyrical content ya feelin me? The Jadikiss joint is definitely lyrical talent at it’s best ya heard? and um feeling Budden’s track as well. I’m from the same era baby and um for real when it comes to rappin and how it’s suppose to sound in it’s original form feel me? nuttin against entertainers of today but this is rap, I’TS BEEN SAID THE DEFENSE REST!!…..

Oh this will def be the first thing I do in 40 mins when Im at my desk.
1. The whole world knows Kiss is hott. DUH! Been hot! But its funny u think of old greats… I heard he did some “disrespectful shit” at a lil industry show when KRS-1 asked him to get on stage. Nevertheless… I love Kiss. And he’s the most commercial of his crew… so it works.
2. Joey kinda made his own image wishy-washy to me. He’s supposedly an ex-crackhead— okay. Then he got on some DVD with Gloria Valez talking about their sex game… that shit made him a cornball to me. But he is nice.
I’ll listen in a few.
Oh I’ve heard the Kiss joint. Hot97 in NY is killing that shit in rotation right now.
The Roc NEEDED Jada.
Joey– niiiiiice.
This shit is like then end of the year rap-up… but a crash course on it state of hip hop. This track is mad funny… but sooo true!! I can’t even quote anything because all of it was good. LOL LOL LOL!!!! At tricking your rent money… oh em gee!! LOL LOL LOL. I’m mad it faded out.
And Past the Margin (the blog) just did an article on dudes saying they don’t write their lyrics. Short, Sweet & Dope… as always. The answer to: Can you hear the difference between a pen and a thought. It was dope too.
Here… incase anyone cares. Dope post: http://www.pastthemargin.com/2.....-time.html
@ HH I checked out that article, I didn’t know that about Wayne in dem, but I knew about Jay in fact he is one of the few who can do it from the top and remember every line and it be relevant dig?

Jada been nice with the features and is good for a couple of songs each album. There are some rappers that you know can do a song with anyone and won’t get tore out of the frame. He’s one of those rappers. I’ve got his first 2 cd’s. He messed up by not putting out that Champ is Here(remix) on the second cd, that shit was hot. He needs better A&R for his whole cd’s, which are good for a few songs but haven’t been solid all the way through.
Joe’s can spit too but is criminally slept on.
As far as the topic of not writing. I doubt Wayne writes his shit, at one point I thought he had ghost writers but now I believe he just gets sky high and rides the beat saying anything that comes to his mind. Many times the cohesion is lacking in his songs with nonsensical punchlines thrown together. Weezy is the most overrated rapper alive and has the under 25 crowd (and some others) fooled into believing he’s the best doing it. When comparing Wayne to what else is played on the radio, yeah he’s one of the nicest doing it. But that doesn’t make him the best doing it, these 2 along with quite a few others I would take lyrically before I listed Wayne. Another part of the problem is people don’t know their history and many rap fans don’t take the time to go back and listen to older and classic cd’s. I could go on and on about this but I’ll leave it alone.
WELL TODD 1 ….JADA IS THE BEST THING SMOKING AND NYC ONLY CHANCE 2 GET BACK UNDER THE RADAR BUT UMMMMMM TELL MR.DUPRI THAT ITS BACK TO LYRICS SO GET THAT T.WATERS KID IN THE BOOTH ALONG WITH Q DA KID AND JOIN THE PARTY….DIDNT T.WATERS COME FROM THAT DBLOCK CREW? SO I KNOW SOMETHING FROM THEM BOYS RUBBED OFF ON HIM!!!!!!
O YEA …….JOE BUDDENS WENT OFF ON THIS SHIT IM RIDING WIT HIM!!!!!!!
I read about Pen vs Memory on the smoking section.. i see that other blogs think alike. Anyhoo.. Jada is the business.. been a fan since the RR/Loxs days. Tell me that laugh doesnt seal the deal.
I like Joe.. minimally though.. just something about him doesnt sut well with me all the time.

LOL @ the laugh… and I agree w| The Truth… NY better get on Jada’s back.
aHAAAAA (like Jada) – lmao . How fly is that ? a dude with the possibly most feminine name is one of the best lyricist ever..
