I miss her.
Newcomer, Jazmine Sullivan is killing the game right now with her single, “Need U Bad”. I initially heard this song sitting in the car in Brooklyn, waiting on my girls to hop in. Honey, I thought Lauryn Hill was back! Seriously, I felt tears coming.
But nope. Wishful thinking, I guess.
It’d be unfair to call her the next Lauryn Hill. I mean, let’s be realistic. LOL. (Do you hear Missy on the track? Damn, she’s been MIA) Regardless, this video circulated the ‘net when it first dropped. I’d heard the track and simply ‘liked it’. Now, I listen to it all day- literally. Maybe it’s the tracks likeness to a L. Boogie track that made it hot… maybe not.
Either way, the song is my *ish right now. Feel good music. So for those who are unfamiliar…
…here’s the video. I’m not crazy about the visual– AT ALL. But the track is crack.

And thats the most amazing shit!!!! BOSTON (home of the wack radio… besides the traffic mix and the unsigned artists show late night) plays this fucking song in HEAVY rotation… and she seemingly CAME OUT OF NO WHERE!!! Honey, I know nothing about her… but her Myspace is cool— she had the song on there.

yeah this song is fresh…. She took me back to when LOVE was new for me… gave me chills… I remember I use to feel that way…

She was signed to Clive Calder at Jive for over three years, but at the time she was so young (17) it was difficult to create a sound and marketing strategy that accommodated both her soulful voice and her young age…. SO as labels often do, she was swapped to sister label Jive and placed with one of their top A&R’s, Peter Edge, who is working on her project now…. She co-wrote Christina Milian’s “Say I”, an appeared on Dre’s solo album (of Cool & Dre) and 50’s album, and she’s been recording with producers such as The Heavyweights, Kwame, Cool & Dre, and Stevie J. & Havoc to name a few….
