A Hip Hop musical takes center stage. “Clay” is a one man show, written and performed by Matt Sax. View the NY Times piece after the cut!

“Clay” is structured as a flashback taking place on the night that Clifford — renamed Clay by his musical mentor — is making his major debut as a performer. It also happens to be the night that his dark personal history catches up to him.

Mr. Sax’s Gumby limbs and matching rubberized face enable him to slip quickly into the skins of a variety of characters: the goggle-eyed Clifford as a young boy, testifying with palpable terror at his parents’ divorce trial; his scornful businessman father, who derides his son at every turn; his psychologically fragile mother, who commits suicide when he’s still a boy; and his stepmother, Jackie, whose maternal affection for her stepson eventually blooms into a feeling more surprising and more problematic.

I may be a little late on these but whats your take on these £3,300 (roughly 5,875.32 U.S. dollars) heel less boots by Antonio Berardi? Victoria Beckham was spotted in NY sporting these made-to-order thigh highs. She was Posh Spice for a reason! lol.

Here is a piece from Daily Mail

They are graceful and there is a ballerina nature about them. Having a heel is really just psychological. A spokesman for his Paris-based fashion house explained the science at work:

The shoe has a bigger platform sole which stretches back further than normal and gives support under the arch of the foot.

If you could spend the money.. would you? What are your thoughts?

The sexiness that is Maxwell will be singing the panties off ladies across the U.S. on his upcoming tour. The artist also has a new project. Black Summers’ Night, which will be a 3 disc album that will be realeased over the next 3 years.

I could use the smoothness of Maxwell in my life.

The tour starts in Boston (hello HustleHER!) on October 9th and ends in Philly sometime in November.. Im sure it will be a musical event not to be missed! And via his myspace the New York show is already SOLD OUT.

Boo hoo!

Fellas call up your chick (or a chick your eyein’) and take her to the show, though she’ll be screaming and swooning over Maxwell… it’ll be a good look! :)

Sol-Angel & The Hadley St. Dreams is Solange’s 2nd studio album (does anyone besides myself remeber Solo Star?). The 13 track disc includes production from Soulshock & Karlin, Jack Splash, Mark Ronson, and The Neptunes. She even dabbles in some production on this album as well. She also participated in a great deal of the writing which alot of singers are trying to do these days.

Solange starts out addressing those that doubt her.. with God Given Name, and states plainly “Im not her and never will be,” referring to big sister & super celebrity Beyonce. Then goes on to say “let my star light shine on its own. I’m no sister, Im just my god given name.” The song ends in a blur falsetto reminiscent of Beyonce’s Gift From A Virgo. T.O.N.Y. (The Other Night Y?) has some of the better vocals on the album minus the “oohs.” She changes key near the end of the song which I could have did without, but i survived it. On Dancing In The Dark, Solo tries to channels her inner Aretha (from Chain of Fools). This song is a little everywhere with the notes, she wanted y’all to know she was singing!

Karina Pasian, god-daughter of Quincy Jones, has been doing alot of sangin’! Yes, sangin’. The 16 year old NY native has strong vocal ability and that star quality that many r&b chicks wish they had. Feel free to Tube her. Her debut album, First Love, features production and writing from Ne-Yo, Tricky Stewart, & The-Dream. Tricky & The-Dream also co-executive produced the 11 track album.

The album stays relative in subject matter. I was sad when the sticker on her CD read “file in pop” she clearly (like Jojo) has too strong a voice to be just a pop artist. 90’s Baby, Baby-Baby featuring Lil Mama (the album’s on feature), & Can’t Find The Words are the most pop geared songs on the album.

The popluar, 16 @ War, details the trials of teen life that many of us have probably forgotten. Beautifully illustrated and performed! Winner portrays the joys of how a guy makes her feel, innocently & Can You Handle It describes an if-the-shoe-was-on-the-other-foot scenerio, something any chick can relate to… young, old, and those of us in between.

The Love We Got & They Ain’t Gotta Love You are your typical teen songs, rolling eyes to all those that oppose of her teenage love affair.

Am I my brothers keeper?
Yes. I. Am.

Chris Rock As “Pookie”

New Jack City, is an urban classic, hands down. It stars & features your favorite 90’s celebrities: Chris Rock, Bill Dunn (Do The Right Thing), Vanessa Williams (Soulfood: The Series), Allen Payne, Westley Snipes, the fab Michael Michele, Mario Van Peebles, & Ice-T. It inspired Cash Money Records (orginally called Cash Money Brother after New Jack’s CMB). Also, Cash Money’s money-machine Lil’ Wayne, al la Tha Carter (more so TC2, the proof is in the interludes). Not to mention one of the greatest lines ever.. “sit yo five dolla ass down before i make change.”

LOL! You know you couldn’t wait to use that line on somebody.

And the soundtrack had some hot songs: “Im Dreaming,” For The Love Of Money/Living For The City,” & “I Wanna Sex You Up.” I swear the 90’s had the best music..

ahhh memories!…

With all that said.. there will be a sequel. Yes the death of yet another classic. The screen play was written by a NY Transit Authority worker. And of course like most straight-to-dvd films none of the original cast will be included.

Traitor

This drama stars Don Cheadle as Samir Horn, an ex U.S. Special Operations officer who is thought to be the head on an international conspiracy due to his connections with various terrorist organizations. It looks like it will do well, but we shall see. Traitor hits theaters August 27, 2008.

Belly 2: The Millionaire Boys Club

Yes, you read it right Belly 2: The Millionaire Boys Club will be available for viewing August 12, 2008 as a straight-to-DVD release with Lionsgate films.

Belly, originally released in 1998, directed by Hype Williams is a Urban Classic. The cinematography was the bomb diggity. The acting was not the best but nonetheless the film is still favored by many. The opening scene set the tone for the rest of the movie and the rest is history. Ahh Memories!

Im sorry to report that the sequel will not be the epic film we know as Belly. B2 is based on a true story, stars The Game as “G,” a convict fresh off an 8 year bid who hopes to turn his life around. His running mate, played by Michael K. Williams (The Wire), is no help & both are soon back to killing & stealing. A DEA agent played by Shari Headley (Coming to America), is thrown in the mix and is torn between her job and her new found romance..

how cliché

Add to that a crooked cop played by Ed O’Ross (Leathal Weapon) and you have Belly 2. I’ll save my comments for later…

Im gonna take you back… way back… back into time when Throwbacks were poppin!

image c/o Complex.com & newsday.com

Were you a victim of the “Throwback?” I remember seeing every team and every player imaginable. Football jerseys, basketball jerseys, authentic jerseys, and of course… the dreaded fakes, fresh out the trunk. You had to have one! And every girl had to have a Jersey dress. Not poppin in retrospect, but it was the IN thing at the time.

They had button ups with teams, jackets with teams, jeans with teams! This was Hip-Hop’s ode to sports. But if you saw someone with any of this sports fanfanilia on (as I did last night!) you’d be forced to clown (as I did last night!). And then they took throwbacks to a whole nother level… prom dresses! Im sure the NBA prom allstars have graced your inboxes. But I can’t front, I had a Utah Jazz throwback, and it is resting peacefully in a drawer.

Did you rock a throwback or any sports team gear? Do you still rock it? (& if you do, I won’t tell ;) )
